Mantram-3. ( Harmful  results  of  rituals  performed  wrongly )



Yasyagni-hotram-adarsam-apaurna-masam


acatur-masyam-anagrayanam-atithi-varjitam  ca


ahutam-avaisva-devam-avidhina  hutam


asaptamams-tasya  lokan  hinasti.



yasya  -  whose;

agnihotram  =  agnihotram  sacrifice;

adarsam  =  not  accompanied  by  'Darsa'  : i.e,  rights  and  sacrifices  to  be  performed  on  new  moon  day;

apaurna-masam  =  not  accompanied  by  sacrificials  rites  to  be  performed  on  full  moon  day;

acatur-masyam  =  not  accompanied  by  sacrificials  rights  to  be  performed  during  the  four  months  of  autumn  season;

anagrayanam  =  not  accompanied  by  first  fruit  offerings  at  harvest  time;

atithi-varjitam  =  unattended  by  guests;

ca  =  and;

ahutam  =  without  offerings;

avaisva-devam  =  without  the  worship  of  Visvadeva-s  (  which  includes  feeding  of  birdsand  animals;

avidhina  =  not  according  to  scriptural  injuctions;

hutam  =  performed;

asaptaman  =  up  to  the  seventh;

tasya  =  his;

lokan  =  worlds;

hinasti  =  destroys.



"If  a  man's  'Agnihotram'  sacrifice  is  not  accompanied  by  1). the  new  moon  and  full  moon  sacrifices  ( Darsa  and  Purnamasa ),  2). by  four  month's  of  the  automnal  season's  sacrifices   ( Catur-masya ),  3).  by  the  sacrifice  of  offering  first-fruits  of  harvest  time  ( Agrayana )  or  is  without  offering  or  performed  without  the  worship  of  'Visvadeva-s  or  not  performed  strictly  according  to  the  rules  laid  down  in  the  'Veda-s' ...  then  such  KARMAM  ' DESTROYS    (ALL)  'his  worlds  till  the  seventh'. "
